Some software tips from Ed Cyzewski:
Many internet users are unaware of the variety of internet browsers out there. Computers come with Internet Explorer already loaded and that’s the only web program they ever use.
While IE (Internet Explorer) may get the job done, there are other programs out there that provide the same web browsing service, but offer better security, better features, and more possibilities. One of the alternatives is .
Right now I have multiple pages open, an online bookmarking tool, today and tomorrow’s weather, a series of bookmarks on my browser toolbar, and a search box with Google and many other programs integrated all into my Firefox web browser. This may complicate life for some, but for others, this free program may make multi-tasking and organizing information just a touch easier.
But web browsers aren’t the only free programs out there. Perhaps one of the best free e-mail programs around is GMail, Google’s free e-mail system. Not only does GMail provide free e-mail with virtually unlimited storage, it also provides free calendar, word processing, and spreadsheet programs that are saved online as part of your account.
And that’s not the end of the free programs available. For every program that must be paid for in cash, there typically is a free, open source program that can be downloaded and used at no charge. I have a comprehensive list here. Enjoy!
